CRMB (Crumb Rubber Modified Bitumen)

CRMB (Crumb Rubber Modified Bitumen)

CRMB is special type of bitumen whose properties improved by addition of crumb rubber & modifier etc. Thus altering the physical properties of bitumen making it more resistant the temperature variation, weather & high traffic loads, leading to enhanced pavement life, reduce maintenance costs and excellent driving comfort.

Types of CRMB are:-

• VIC CRMB 50 : Ideal for cold climatic conditions.
• VIC CRMB 55 : Ideal for moderate climatic conditions.
• VIC CRMB 60 : Ideal for hot climatic conditions.

Advantages of Modified Bitumen (PMB/CRMB) :

  • Lower susceptibility to daily and seasonal temperature variations
  • Higher resistance to deformation at elevated pavement temperature
  •  Better age resistance properties
  •  Better adhesion between aggregate and binder
  • Higher fatigue life of mixes
  •  Delay of cracking and reflective cracking
  •  Overall improved performance in extreme climatic conditions and under heavy traffic conditions.
